GENRE | 'Goon: Last of the Enforcers' Hits Hard

Seann William Scott Liev Schreiber Jay Baruchel | Goon: Last of the Enforcers

The original Goon, a somewhat realistic feeling gem of a little Canadian sports flick co-written and produced by Montréal actor Jay Baruchel (and directed by Michael Dowse), was a violent, darkly sweet yet accessible take on the lowest levels of fighting in minor league hockey and the people gravitated towards that life. Its sequel, Goon: Last of the Enforcers, this time directed by Baruchel is unfortunately a much more broadly comic and very bloody affair—on ice.

VIFF 2016 | Must See BC – 'Hello Destroyer' Punishes

VIFF 2016 Must See BC | Jared Abrahamson Kevan Funk | Hello Destroyer

VIFF 2016Hello Destroyer, BC filmmaker Kevan Funk's feature directorial debut, is laser focused on exploring the human impact of violence through the lens of a junior hockey enforcer in Prince George. It's a stylistically artful but meticulously slow burn, human drama that takes a minimalistic, fly on the wall approach to exploring its character drama.

Canucks Hospitality Tour | Rogers Arena

On and off the ice, the Vancouver Canucks are going through big changes. From a corporate standpoint, new leadership and the continued stable, local ownership of the Aquilini Investment Group have mandated new and improved fan and hospitality experiences within Rogers Arena. This means a completely revamped and overhauled food and drink experience starting from the kitchen out. Along with the changes comes major renovations, new amenities offered, and construction of a 26-storey attached residential tower.

Vancouver Canucks players and fellow countrymen Henrik and Daniel Sedin (colleagues of the owners from their hometown of Örnsköldsvik), Eddie Läck, and Alexander Edler all came to support the Swedish export and BC Children's Hospital.

2014 NHL Heritage Classic: Ottawa Senators 4, Vancouver Canucks 2 at BC Place Stadium on March 2, 2014.

NHL Heritage Classic 2014 | Ottawa Senators vs. Vancouver Canucks @ BC Place Stadium

A sort of rematch and ode to the 1915 Stanley Cup Final featuring the winning Vancouver Millionaires and original incarnation of the Ottawa Senators. Backup Eddie Lack starting over gold medal winning Roberto Luongo and a closed roof. A difficult loss, surrendering four unanswered goals after scoring two in the first period.

CBC News: Impostor Canucks Green Men Cause Traffic Jam

I was interviewed by my pals over at CBC News Vancouver on what I had to say about the traffic jam caused by The Green Men impostors this morning. It was really strange being the one interviewed and not the interviewee for a change, especially by CBC. You can watch and read the full story featuring yours truly here.

After celebrating Canucks Day yesterday with the Vancouver Canucks having only won just a single playoff series, many around the NHL have more ammunition to believe that Canucks fans are the worst hockey fans in Canada and amongst the worst in all of professional sports, period. But Canucks fans respond. (0:37)
