Las Vegas: Canucks Fever x Stanley Cup Final x Games 3 & 4

Watching the NHL Stanley Cup Final 2011: Games 3 & 4 – Vancouver Canucks vs. Boston Bruins at the Aria Resort & Casino Race & Sports Book lounge in Las Vegas on June 6 and 8, 2011.

I have no words. What a pair of absolutely terrible games to watch, particularly in the States. I told you last week, up 2 games to none, I was hitting up the Las Vegas strip for a quick getaway, hoping to cheer on the team from afar. I hit up the sports betting lounge at Aria to watch the games.

I met up with a couple Vancouverites Jeff and Steve (above, apologies for the blurriness) who commiserated with the final scores. I really wanted to find random Vancouver fans and celebrate together in Vegas. Depressed after Game 4, I hit up the casinos and found a bunch of other sad fans all over the strip.

There were a ton of Canucks fans all over the place in Vegas, more so for Game 4. After Game 3, Bruins fans came out of the woodwork, but there was a serious lack of visible Boston gear. No Bruins jerseys spotted at all.

But when they scored, they sure cheered loudly (and obnoxiously). One Boston fan was hilarious in his neurotic support and was very friendly. He just wanted a good series.

I spotted a group of 5 or so from Kamloops all in their blue jerseys in the sweltering heat at Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon. We sadly relived the dramatic events of Game 4 together.

My pals Chris and Helen (above) also showed their support in the losing efforts. Most of the fans watching the game were older folks. The younger fans seemed to be Bostonians, who multiplied after their Game 3 victory. I'm back at home and so are the Canucks. I still believe, so let's cheer them on tonight. Frankly, Game 5 is everything in this now best of 3 series. Bring it home.
