Big changes are happening at Canada's largest broadcaster. CTV BC announced today two new news shows, CTV Morning Live and CTV News at Noon in addition to a slew of anchor and host shuffling at 5, 6, and 11:30.

BCIT Broadcast Short Film: 'Command Z' – A Zombie Comedy

Every BCIT Broadcast Journalism student makes a short film or "fun feature" during their first semester. The best one each year is awarded the Jello Award. My group won last year.

This year's winner, Command Z, blows them all away. This 12-minute short film is a zombie comedy epic. It features some excellent writing and production values done by Rafferty Baker, Brittany DeAngelis, Mitch Pollock, Marc Staeling, and Anita Sthankiya including an opening narration by CKNW host Bill Good. Enjoy.

BCIT Broadcast: Katy Perry 'Teenage Dream' Parody

Watch this hilarious music parody of Katy Perry's pop hit single, "Teenage Dream", done by first-year BCIT Broadcast Journalism student, Justin Morissette, called "Best News Team". The music video mocks our program and campus radio station, Evolution 107.9 FM. The in jokes and references are spot on. You can also listen and download the audio here.

Wizerdz Magical Music Interview

I sat down with two members of Vancouver's favourite fantasy-themed electronic dance rock quartet Wizerdz, Keyboardist Ferrobear Porridgebeard (Barry Warren) and guitarist Nintendor Wiiz (Gowan Gillis). Needless to day, it was a hilariously epic interview full of magical and musical adventures and even a mystical dragon battle. Yes, seriously. Watch it and judge for yourself.

The Wizerdz play The Railway Club on December 7 as part of the CiTR SHiNDiG finals and on December 14 with Fine Mist, as well as at the Forum on January 20.

BMO Money Diaries: Webisode #1

I got a paid gig as a video blogger for BMO's student project across Canadian colleges about bank finances called The Money Diaries. Check out the first webisode I did with four other BCIT students. It kind of makes me cringe watching it, but look for the epic team high five at the end.

Vancouver Homeless Seek Shelter in Freezing Cold

Vancouver was hit with extended freezing temperatures this past weekend and the homeless community was hit hardest as shelters scrambled to accomodate the increased demand for space. I dropped by the First United Church shelter and found out how they are dealing with the cold.

Mayor Gregor Robertson Fakes Movember Moustache

As you probably know, my good friend Peter Verge was able to convince Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson to, not only officially declare November as Movember, but also get him to agree to grow a moustache of his very own. Robertson's Mo progress has been slow, so he recently sported a fake 'stache at Vancouver City Council. Chandler Grieve and Brittany Greenslade update us on Robertson's Mo Bro progress.

Radio: I Punk Christine Tam Live on Air

I was on the late shift this week at Evolution 107.9 FM, BCIT's campus radio station in Burnaby. I like to keep the newsroom loose with jokes and fun as we can get a little weary. The last couple weeks, I  have messed with the lovely Christine Tam's news headlines scripts live as she's reading them on air. I usually insert the word "sexy" in random places or make little tweaks that are hard to notice.

Yesterday, I pulled another one on Christine live on the radio. It was her own fault for saying she missed my pranks but, as always, she was a good sport about it and we all had a good laugh (at her expense) afterward.
