REEL | Olivia Wilde Teases Gen Z – 'I Want Your Sex' x SIFF 2026

"You're a sexual astronaut just exploring the outer limits of experience."
Cooper Hoffman Chase Sui Wonders Gregg Araki | I Want Your Sex
Magnolia Pictures / Elevation Pictures
I Want Your Sex, provocative New Queer Cinema pioneer and Teenage Apocalypse trilogy director Gregg Araki's highly sexual but lo-fi erotic comedy, co-written with sex columnist Karley Sciortino of Slutever fame, is another intriguing exploration of young adulthood through acts of intimacy and explicit desire.

Starring Cooper Hoffman as a naive fine arts graduate, Elliot, and Olivia Wilde as his kink-positive artist boss, Erika, with Mason Gooding as his co-worker, Chase Sui Wonders as his roommate, and Charli XCX as his disinterested girlfriend, the ensemble film's playful characters expose the current adult generation's many parasocial and psychosexual hangups. After the sex-deprived Elliot gets a menial job as Erika's assistant, he becomes obsessed with her after she starts an aggressively dominant but freeing BDSM relationship with him. What follows is a loose treatise on sexual curiosity and power dynamics told through the art world.

Araki's friendly film screed against Generation Z's lack of sexual exploration tackles the dire contemporary state of sexlessness in his first film in a dozen years. It's particularly matter-of-fact about its presentation of general horniness across generations while tossing off critical one-liners about art, artists, and general dissatisfaction. I Want Your Sex is a light but explicit comedy about the proclivities of differing generations.

I Want Your Sex screened at the 2026 Seattle International Film Festival as part of the New American Cinema program.
