"I truly believe that I have these powers to help people, to protect them."

Marvel Animation
Created by Jeff Trammell and voiced by Hudson Thames, this Spider-Man purposely messes with Spidey's existing canon and accepts continuity from previous incarnations for mostly intriguing new setups similar to Marvel's other animated series, What If…? These key differences make watching Peter Parker go through all the usual motions, trials, and tribulations of high school teen life stand out much more from the slew of both live-action and animated movies.
Somehow YFNSM feels both familiar and novel with its nods to past adaptations and inclusion of fresh supporting characters from elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More than anything else, it's another bright and shiny, utterly hopeful interpretation of the superhero and thankfully not a tired retread or do-over. It's a slickly action-oriented web-slinger animated series with clearly defined friendships and character relationships that stray just far enough from what we know.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's ten-episode first season is available to stream weekly on Disney+.
