"But first boba."

Mount Pleasant—It was bound to happen. One of Vancouver's newer (and definitely hipper) cafes has a decidedly Taiwanese sweet drink twist. Buns + Boba Café, located centrally on East Broadway, takes the simple pleasures of bubble tea drinks and brings a more artisanal style approach.

Unlike most "boba" joints, B+B has a simple, slimmed-down menu of various milk (and non-milk) tea drinks with its own special options for individual personalization from traditional toppings to different milk options.

There's a more upscale, but still very approachable, attitude and atmosphere with loose-leaf organic tea choices, all the usual espresso offerings, and drinks made without the aid of powders, concentrates, or extra additives.

Basically, it's bubble tea for the slightly more health-conscious (and possibly image-conscious) or typical coffee crowd aiming for natural ingredients and trendy appeal.

With its friendly, central location on the Kingsway and Broadway corridor, Buns + Boba is a perfectly pleasant sweet drink option with a welcoming Asian minimalist decor and pleasing menu. It certainly stands out.
