WEEKENDER | Gibsons x Roberts Creek x Sunshine Coast

Find Bick's A Burger | Sunshine Coast, British Columbia

Sunshine Coast—(June 19-20, 2015) Last weekend, I teamed up with Bick's Pickles to go on (and document) a little road trip and ferry adventure. Inspired by Bick's Lost at Sea Burger recipe—a salmon fillet burger topped with shrimp and lobster atop a brioche bun—we headed to the aptly named coastal destination and specifically, the locals of Gibsons and Roberts Creek in our beautiful province of British Columbia.

BC Ferries | Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver

Bright and early, we took the Queen of Surrey on BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver to the Langdale Ferry Terminal.

On the quick ferry ride over (an enjoyable forty minutes), we got quite the view of most of the coast, Gulf Islands, Powell River, and Howe Sound.

After that, it was a scenic drive from Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast Highway heading towards Gibsons and over west to the town of Roberts Creek where we stayed.

On the weekend, we explored the endless beaches and coastal trails all along the coast in Upper Gibsons (above) and along Roberts Creek Provincial Park (below).

As for the food, we were tasked with revisiting the classic summer barbecue on our getaway mixing our own burger recipe from the Find Bick's A Burger campaign and their "lost" varieties.

We took on the standard but signature Lost in the Supermarket Burger (modified with some extra fixings and toppings). To make your own, ingredients include a beef burger patty (made from lean ground beef, onions, breadcrumbs, and eggs), cheddar cheese, bacon, ketchup, mustard, and featuring an assortment of Bick's products including sweet green relish, cocktail onions, banana pepper chunks, dill, gherkin, and sandwich pickles, all served on a toasty bun.

Summer weekends are perfect for exploring the great Canadian outdoors as all the greenery, coastal waters, and fresh air paired nicely with our backyard burger theme.

Seriously, it's called the "Sunshine Coast" for a reason. It's an entirely different lifestyle. Think laid-back and much slower paced. It also looks like this everywhere, full of scenery.

Disclosure: This was a sponsored trip and collaboration with Bick's Pickles. You can join in on the fun along with #FindBicksABurger campaign this summer by visiting Bick's Lost Burger experience and searching for one of their lost recipes online for a chance to win a Big Green Egg BBQ.
