Richmond—(June 26, 2016) Courtesy of ChineseBites signature dining tours, we visited Kirin Seafood Restaurant next door to Richmond Centre mall for some afternoon dim sum service. Regularly named among the best in upscale Chinese dining, Kirin reliably offers an authentic, traditional Chinese style menu pleasing to both eastern and western tastes with an overall pleasant atmosphere and service.

FEAST | ChineseBites x Shiang Garden x Richmond

Richmond—(June 25, 2014) After a long hiatus, ChineseBites and their signature dining tours have returned. After a few dinners at other Asian and Chinese style eateries, we returned for another multi-course Chinese banquet style dinner at Shiang Garden Seafood Restaurant among the company of local foodies.

AYCE Chinese hot pot can be a delicious yet deadly proposition. We ventured into Burnaby (they also have a location in Lansdowne Centre mall in Richmond) for some Mongolian style hot pot at Little Sheep for this ChineseBites meal.

This time around, ChineseBites ventured into the overwhelming smörgåsbord of Chinese dining in Richmond. We hit up Pearl Castle Cafe's flagship location to try some Taiwanese goodness. It's won the Chinese Restaurant Award for best Taiwanese bubble tea cafe four years in a row.

We ventured to the far Eastside for this ChineseBites dinner outing and returning to the traditional multi-course style banquet dinner. Fortune City is a little hidden, upstairs in the Hastings-Sunrise Chinese shopping centre.

After a six-month long hiatus, ChineseBites dinners have returned. We gathered to sample some Taiwanese food at Strike's newest location in Kitsilano. Their most popular dish, the Taiwanese style steak with black pepper sauce, was fairly satisfying with all its noodle and egg goodness and sizzling, beefy glory. The dish also came with chicken instead, but the steak was better.

It was time for something a little different with our Chinese dining crew as we went for some Shanghainese style food in Burnaby. Grace couldn't stop raving about the signature deep fried sweet and sour rock cod. It was  very crispy and delicious.

Venturing into the Hastings-Sunrise area, our Chinese dining crew tried this house-like, neighbourhood eatery. They offered some fun, interesting (but safe) twists to a few Chinese dish staples. This included the found the lamb and fish hot pot fairly tasty, full various meats and veggies. I refrained from the steamed winter melon with vegetables due to my melon aversion but could not deny its pretty look and presentation (above).

We hit up another part of Vancouver for a full Chinese course dinner with the crew, this time on the westside.

This was easily the best of the traditional Chinese dinners so far. The portions were large and everything was prepared well with great presentation. (I have no idea about all the strawberries as garnishes.)

Our Chinese dining crew veered east to try the newly opened Japanese fusion restaurant in Yaletown, offering a more vibrant, lounge feel to dining. To start off, one of the highlights was the marinated sablefish cooked and presented just nicely.
