Kitsilano—(December 29, 2022) Just under the wire before the end of the year, I finally paid a long overdue trip to the Museum of Vancouver (MOV) to visit their latest featured exhibition, All We Want is More: The Tobias Wong Project, a retrospective collection of the provocative Vancouver-born and raised Canadian designer.

Welcome to Space!
MOV has assembled an exhaustive showcas of the short but memorable career of the prolific New York-based paraconceptual artist Tobias Wong (1974–2010).

His irreverent and thought-provoking pieces crisscrossed the disciplinary boundaries between subversive fashion or product designs and concepts, including sometimes controversial appropriations of other people's work, with over seventy (often cheeky) displays by the designer—the majority of which come from the Wong Estate collection.

Self-described as paradesign, Wong's collection leans into a post-modernist sense of absurdist humour. He brought a detail and nuance to the significance of everyday objects and items.

All We Want is More is a bittersweet showing of a still young designer's promise. Wandering the exhibition, it's to not hard imagine what could have been in Wong's surely bright future sadly cut short. It's on dislay until July 2023.
