BEERFEST | New in Town x Studio Brewing x South Burnaby

Studio Brewing | Burnaby, BC

BurnabyStudio Brewing's brand new tasting room, located near the Rumble Street and Kingsway corridors situated by the Royal Oak SkyTrain Station beneath its backdrop just below the elevated Expo Line, opened up recently in its equally industrial meets cozy South Burnaby neighbourhood.

Festival Express
Its intimate but friendly (and very bright wood decor) brewery setup seems initially focused on easy-drinking and experimental American-type craft ales and brews.

Starting out with a decent selection of core and limited flavours, I sampled a trio of beers from their opening lineup:
  • Daisy Chain new world saison (core): a flowing, crisp beer that's mild but very pleasing.
  • Trouble at the Old Mill table saison (limited): super light and refreshing like a solid everyday beer.
  • Festival Express American pale ale (limited): cloudy, fruity, and totally flavourful in its hazy delight.

Thanks to its basic approach and workmanlike demeanour, Studio's seemingly blue-collar fare manages an underlying taste of sophistication in its no-nonsense simplicity with subtle hints to its beers that reveal an understated class.

Studio Brewing, so far, feels good for what ales ya. More to come and even more to drink.
