BEERFEST | Shipyards x North Point Brewing Co. x North Van

North Point Brewing Co. | Lower Lonsdale Shipyards Brewery District | North Vancouver

North Shore—One of North Vancouver's newest craft microbreweries, North Point Brewing Co., founded by a trio of friends, opened up late last year, located around the Lower Lonsdale area, smack dab in the middle of the burgeoning new Shipyards Brewery District.

Situated a few blocks from Lonsdale Quay amidst industrial storefronts, community gardens, a small park, and residential spaces, the brewery has a wide-open, garage-y feel to its 1,800-square-foot tasting room designed by Bri Ragona Interiors with tons of natural light and a parklet street-style patio outside.

As for the actual beer, North Point has two core beers and a few seasonals on rotation. I've only tried a couple of pints so far, but I found both rather refreshing right off the bat.
  • Strawberry blonde ale (core): a refreshingly light and tasty beverage that's easy-drinking and perfect for summer patio season (their most popular beer).
  • Gully Smash (seasonal): a crisp, bold-tasting beer with hints of malt and fruity flavours.

NPB has a very welcoming neighbourhood quality to it. The cabin feels mixed with a wood-heavy, industrial bent, making everything all the more inviting. Thus far, their beer lineup seems to be reminiscent of old standards and staples, all crisply made for everyday drinking.

There's a breezy, casual appeal to North Point's brewery and beers that evoke a strong sense of West Coast Pacific influences. It's easygoing and flowing, which makes for a relaxed vibe, matching its self-proclaimed most crushable output well.
