WEEKENDER | PNE Fair x Pacific National Exhibition x Hastings Park

Hastings–Sunrise—(August 15, 2019) Those dog days of summer means it's almost time for the PNE Fair (formerly "The Fair at the PNE") opening this weekend at the Pacific National Exhibition's festival fairgrounds on Hastings Park.

Besieged by lower attendance, bad weather, and closed Playland rides recently and over the years, the usually scorching two-week, end of summer, century-long annual carnival festival has found success in constantly reinventing itself while also staying true to its roots and celebrating its longheld Fair traditions.

Celebrating their ninetieth-anniversary is the iconic, family-owned Jimmy's Lunch stand, the longest-running food concessionaire now operated by Jimmy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren, serving their classic grilled burgers, hot dogs, and carnival fare all piled high with their batch of fried onions for four generations now.



Now stably owned and run by the City of Vancouver after years of uncertainty under the BC Provincial Government, the PNE tries to make its three-million annual attendees happy and satisfied with family-friendly entertainment each year since the beginning in 1910.



New attractions this year include the Snap Happy selfie stations, Translink's interactive Transit 2050 display, and new Revel District for adults in addition to old favourites like the popular SuperDogs show, coveted Prize Home, and Summer Night Concert series (TLC!—no scrubs allowed).



The PNE Fair officially opens on Saturday and runs (like always) until Labour Day. Enjoy.
