Davie Street—(August 28, 2018) The popular Juke Fried Chicken establishment opened up a second, counter-service location dubbed "Little Juke" in the thick of the West End neighbourhood during the tail-end of summer.

To celebrate the second anniversary of the original Juke in Chinatown, the fried chicken purveyors sought out to make Little Juke a somewhat original effort with both new menu items and many of the same staple favourites brought over including their crispy, Southern-style, gluten-free birds.

The small but welcoming 1,100-square-foot location has the same casual, laidback atmosphere with seating for twenty as well as some expanded take-out and delivery options.

Little Juke's new offerings include quarter, half, or whole rotisserie chicken, Vietnamese-inspired Nước chấm ribs, a more substantial version of their fried chicken sandwich, and chicken karaage bites.

Their classic, original fried chicken tastes more refined than ever while the new rotisserie chicken is a fine complement with a savoury juiciness. The spicy flavoured fried batch is still appealingly saucy just as the new thick ribs are wholly satisfying.

With negronis on tap and plenty of choices for libations and sustenance including "thickshakes", Juke's ever-evolving menu of meat options continues to impress with its own unique flavouring softly inspired by Southern recipes.

The much bigger "Big Boy" fried chicken sandwich is substantial in its handheld impact compared to the snack-sized original. It's surprising yet refreshing the different standout options offered at the new locale.

Little Juke is looking to be another winner in its breezy West End neighbourhood by the beach. The comfort food stylings and expanded grub options are quite the treat.
Update: Little Juke is closing with a new vegan restaurant concept Beetbox opening from the same proprietors in its place.
