The Routine ramen poutine (with fries, cheese curds, miso gravy, Kewpie mayo, and furikake)
Fairview Slopes—(July 4, 2017) The Rise Eatery is South Granville's newest and latest globally-influenced restaurant with culinary influences from Argentina to Korea and Germany. The modern sixty-seat bistro opened recently with a focus on elevated dining and sharing plates (think Torafuku meets Heritage Asian Eatery).

Newly Fashioned cocktail (with beet ice, orange bourbon, thyme, and bitters)
Keeping with their intercontinental theme, the bar aims to shake things up with six original cocktails on the bar menu with their own twists on classic drinks.

Heart Attack Rice (with schmaltz stir fried rice pilaf, chicken confit, and an egg)
Live-edge tables and indigo hues of Rise's signature colourscape give off a relaxed vibe while sculptural copper accents suggest an elevated level of sophistication. The presentation is topnotch, but perhaps, there's a little too much focus on appearances (including Instagram-friendly plating).

Rise has debuted with an ambitious menu of internationally influenced global flavours. However, they might have bitten off much more than they can chew.

A full tasting of their initial menu of offerings revealed a disappointing lack of focus and any remarkable or standout tastes where the simplest dishes were consistently the better ones despite some offbeat use of ingredients. While early, they still have a long way to go in refining their cuisine and improving things so far.
