Janice and I hit up Chewies for some southern goodness in between musical sets at Khatsahlano. The place was starting to fill up and it was a long wait for our food, but well worth it.

Things got fairly busy quickly on this hot Saturday early evening. We had a few varieties of oysters (including the royal miyagi, kumamoto, and the sea breeze). All were fresh and tasty.

However, I came for the Southern fried chicken. It's delicious every time, marinated for two days in buttermilk and Cajun honey butter drizzle. I can't resist. I prefer the full dinner offering with mash to the brunch version with waffles.

She had the pan fried Fanny Bay oysters po' boy. It was really quite a tasty sandwich with a great flavour and very filling.

I always make sure to drop by Chewies whenever I'm in Kits for some fine Southern food right next to the beach. I enjoy their combination of good food and a friendly atmosphere.
