Minna Van and Jay Catalan, founders of The Network Hub co-working space, hold a networking session every month for fellow entrepreneurs as part of the Vancouver Entrepreneur Meetup Group.

This time, they managed to rangle our ever present and honourable mayor to come speak about the city and entrepreneurship.

UBC Professor Raul Pacheco-Vega (aka Hummingbird 604) moderated live and online questions for the mayor to answer and discuss with the eager crowd.

Evidently, Vancouver has more entrepeneurs per capita than any other city in the world. If you are not familiar, before Mayor Robertson was an NDP MLA and city politician, he started his own successful organic fruit drink business. He has some interesting insights and thoughts.

I'm glad I finally made it to one of Minna and Jay's Hub events.

Although I don't really consider myself an "entrepreneur" per se, despite some tendencies that way, I really appreciate a place for young, like-minded professionals to bounce ideas off each other in a collaborative environment.

I was joined by my good mates, Cheryl Tan and Kathy Ko (above). The three of us felt a little out of place amidst a sea of outgoing, agressive business-like folks, but we managed to mesh in anyhow.

Again, a big shout out to Minna and Jay for continuing to foster the Vancouver entrepreneurial community so well. They are true ambassadors and invaluable friends. If you're curious, be sure to check out my CBC Radio One and television news stories on co-working featuring them and their work.
